PRESIDENT

The North East Jamaica Conference is the latest initiative of the West Indies Union terms of strategic planning for the growth and development of the church in this territory. Actually this is not a new field in terms of knowledge, experience and maturity because we boast membership of veterans in St Mary and Portland who have given up to and more than fifty years of service to the field, as members of the East or Central Jamaica conference or as North Jamaica Mission.

The vision, mission and commission of this Field:

The vision

  1. Knowledge: God’s expectation of His remnant people; the importance of faith and sacrifice; the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer;
  1. Skills: Pulling together; Awareness of individual and collective goals; Rising to the challenges of the spiritual war
  1. Commitment/attitudes: Surrendering to God’s leading; a deeper appreciation of God’s grace in our lives; healing and reconciliation

The Commission- Matthew 28: 19 -20 GO YE THEREFORE

The Mission- Preach, Teach, Baptize, Teach

  1. Preach and teach whatsoever we were commanded to do by our Lord Jesus Christ.
  1. Baptize in the Name of Father Son and Holy Ghost

The general Conference has identified five areas into which our strategic issues fall:

  1. Growth and Consolidation (evangelism and evangeliving)
  2. Education
  3. Healthy lifestyle
  4. Family Life
  5. Unity

Many times in executing our commission we lose sight of our mission, like a man losing his family because he ignored them in order work hard to build a lovely house for them. We are in danger of losing our members while building stately churches, while concentrating on secular education and vocations. We face some real challenges as we look into the years ahead but the promise still remains “Lo I am with you always, even unto the end”

We remind ourselves of our collective duties and responsibilities with the acronym BERESCHEF. It means new beginnings in terms of being sanctified on a daily basis.

  1. Bible- our terms of reference
  2. Empowerment- renewing our commitment every day by His grace
  3. Restoration- repairing the breaches in our attitude to God’s Law and our fellowmen
  4. Evangelism- telling others what God has done for us
  5. Stewardship- taking care of that which God has entrusted to us
  6. Community Service – Christianity in working clothes
  7. Health- emphasizing a consistent good attitude to the care of our bodies
  8. Education – preparing leaders and Christian practitioners for the next generation
  9. Family- restoring in man the image of God

I invite everyone to help by your prayerful support to grow this field to the honour and glory of the living God, Our rally call is “Positioning and repositioning  on the wings of prayer “
